Energy Work

In addition to being a psychologist I am a certified energy medicine practitioner and Reiki master. I practice a technique I refer to as shamanic Reiki. My connection to this work had been a lifelong journey supported by 25+ years of meditation and contemplative study.

What is Shamanic Reiki?

Shamanic Reiki is a complimentary health care practice, which has been found to enhance the body’s ability to heal itself physically, reduce emotional and mental stress and fatigue, and increase overall wellbeing
and balance.

Both shamanic Reiki and energy work are the process by which a practitioner becomes a conduit for life force energy and works with that energy at a subtle level to restore, replenish, and rebalance one’s
system at a physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual level.

Theory of Treatment

Stress, trauma, and illness restrict the natural flow of energy through the body. Developed from the idea that the physical body and energetic bodies possess the same electromagnetic energies as the Universe, Reiki helps people attune to this vital energy. By restoring the flow of life force energy through the body, Reiki rejuvenates the body’s ability to relax and, therefore, supports the body’s ability to heal itself at a physical and subtle level.

Although one session may be adequate, longterm imbalances in the body sometimes require multiple treatments in order to allow the body to reach the level of relaxation necessary to bring the system back into balance. Improvement often requires commitment on the client’s part (e.g., willingness to make lifestyle changes) in order to fully benefit from treatment(s).

What to Expect

  • Clients relax on a massage table, fully clothed, while I lay hands on the body or work in the field around you. Whatever you prefer.
  • You may experience sensations or you may simply feel relaxed. Whatever you sense is perfect!
  • Touch, breathing, vocal or instrumental sound may be used to move energy. There will be time to debrief sessions.
